Description
1982 Mercedes 300TD Euro Wagon bio-diesel, or WVO This is a 1982 Mercedes 300TD wagon. The odometer has 126k miles on it which I believe to be accurate.  It is in good shape cosmetically and good shape mechanically.  This will run on diesel or bio-diesel as is with no conversion. It can run on veggie oil or any combination of the above with small modifications. INTERIOR The carpet is clean and in good shape. Headliner is great. Locks and windows work.  Seats work great and are all manual. The driver's side seat has a bit of a pokey spring, but is fine with the seat covers on.  This is a european import so the seats are cloth, not mb-tex (Mercedes' fancy name for vinyl) Climate control does not seem to work, however the blower and the heat work fine. A/C is not hooked up so I don't know if the compressor is good.  The rear seats are in good shape. Dashboard has a few cracks.  The other nice thing about this being a European car is that the windows are hand crank so they will last nearly forever. The sunroof in maual as well so you just slide it back or pull it forward. No cranking or anything. You don't have to worry about replacing motors or switches. The little strap for the spare tire cover is missing, so the cover uses a replacable "duct tape latch". The headliner has a couple of cuts in the rear part of the car.EXTERIOR: Most of the car looks pretty good. There are a few rock chips on the hood. The rear hatch stays up when opened. This does not have the rear seat, just the cargo area.  This has a pretty heavy duty tow hitch installed. It also has the low profile euro bumpers. It has the US headlights. I am guessing someone changed them out at one time. I would rate the exterior a 8/10.  Tires are very good with 75% tread left. MECHANICAL Mechanically it is a 8/10. It needs new shocks. The tranny seems to shift well. The engine runs well and doesn't smoke. New fuel/oil filters. I think there may be a vacume leak. The other day, it wouldn't shut off when I turned the key off. I am going to have my mechanic check that out this weekend. I drove it up the canyon for a "how well does it go up steep hills" test and it did fairly well. It only smoked a little when I punched it. (but show me an old diesel Mercedes that doesn't do that)VEGGIE OIL/BIO DIESEL: I run my other cars on veggie oil with injector line heaters. If you would like me to install them on this, I can do that for you for a small fee.  It currently has been running on bio-diesel. Take advantage of the low gas/diesel prices to get a veggie supply going. We all know the prices will go back up again soon.WARRANTY : I will guaranty the drive train on the car for 3 months after the purchase. (this doesn't mean I'll pay for your mechanic’s repairs. It means I will fix or replace anything that goes bad. I know this doesn't help much if you are far away but it’s more than most will do. I just want you to know I have confidence that the car will run well for you.) DELIVERY OF THE CAR... -I can pick you up from the San Jose, CA airport. -I would be happy to drive the car to you for about $1 a mile plus airfare back to San Jose. You need to contact me PRIOR to bidding to arrange this. You also need to have the car paid in full before I do this. -I can ship the car to you with the carrier of your choice. You decide who to use. I don’t know any good ones and don’t want to be liable for a bad choice. Let me know if you have any questions or if I missed a photo angle and I’ll try to upload more photos. My 8-5 PST office phone number is 408-259-2795. Ask for Kyle. After that, try 408-506-1620. Happy Bidding...I know you’ll be pleased with this car. (just to be clear, this is a 1982. eBay couldn't verify the VIN so it wouldn't let me post a 1981 or later vehicle, so I had to trick the automated VIN verifier) _gsrx_vers_247 (GS 5.1.2 (247)) On Nov-29-08 at 13:35:47 PST, seller added the following information:My mechanic looked at this and said it needs a new vacuum pump. He will replace it on Monday morning. Thank you for your bids on this.
